FREE

I ADMIT, RELUCTANTLY,
THAT I HAVE TROUBLE FORGIVING.
I STILL HAVE NOT FORGIVEN MY OWN FATHER,
WHO DIED IN 2002
FOR THINGS HE DID
AND WHY HE WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE ENTIRE FAMILY TO TELL ME I WAS PRETTY.

AND THOSE TWO OTHERS,
I KNOW YOU REFUSE TO READ WHAT I WRITE,
BUT, JUST IN CASE, NOT NAMING ANY NAMES,
YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
THE TWO WHO SHOULD HAVE CARED FOR ME THE MOST,
EITHER GANGING UP TOGETHER AND CALLING ME NAMES
OR LOCKING ME IN CLOSETS
AND MAKING ME FEEL INVISIBLE, A GHOST.
HOW DO I GET PAST THAT?
HOW DO I FORGIVE?
BUT I JUST FORGAVE THIS ONE PERSON
WHO I HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR SOMETHING
THAT TORE MY HEART IN HALF
FOR A DECADE.
BUT THE KEY WAS ASKING FOR HIS FORGIVENESS.
AND SOMEHOW THAT SET ME FREE.

HEBREWS 5:16-18

REJOICE ALWAYS,
PRAY CONTINUALLY,
GIVE THANKS IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES;
FOR THIS IS GOD'S WILL FOR YOU IN
CHRIST JESUS.
